Nu-Salya Chalet, near Squamish, has been recognized internationally for its unique architecture and furnishings. Nu-Salya offers its guests a breakfast menu instead of simply putting out the ubiquitous granola," the magazine wrote. Nu-Salya, which means My Vision in Coast Salish, was the only Canadian bed and breakfast facility to make that list, from an estimated 25,000 bed and breakfast locations in North America. Penguin Publishing recently chose Nu-Salya for the front cover of its latest Canadian bed and breakfast guide. Nu-Salya, operated by owners Bill and Susan McComish, was built as their dream home five years ago and then converted into a bed and breakfast operation three years ago. It features three guest bedrooms in a building with cedar and fir log posts, pine and slate floors, unique furnishings and large wood-framed windows with Howe Sound views. "Forbes just called last week and told us we would be included in their article on the best B & Bs and to our surprise, we’re the only one in Canada," said Bill McComish, a contractor who designed the building. "Sometimes you try to work at getting exposure and nothing happens but then, out of the blue, we’re featured in Forbes magazine. We’re absolutely thrilled." |
